What
Are My Options?
Fortunately, in a musical community as rich and
varied as Dallas Ft. Worth, we have many options available for
wedding ceremony music. A few of the more popular choices are
string groups (usually trios or quartets), vocal soloists, harpists,
pianists, classical guitarists or a solo instrumentalists such
as a trumpet, flute or violin accompanied by piano, organ or guitar.
For a more unique presentation you might consider a gospel choir,
a bagpiper, a hand bell choir, a brass quintet or a small chamber
orchestra of 8-24 musicians.
Where is
the Ceremony?
Many times the selection of ceremony musicians is in part determined
by the ceremony location. If you're planning a church or synagogue
ceremony you might want to consider the recommendations of the
music minister or organist. Frequently they have a referral list.
Ask if there are any specific guidelines or restrictions regarding
the music that may be performed. You'll find most music ministers
and or organists are receptive to working with other professional
musicians that you may hire on your own.
Planning a ceremony in a venue other than a church or synagogue
presents a different set of considerations.
1. Will the ceremony be inside or outside?
2. Will the area for the musicians be covered or open air?
3. What about the weather?
4. Will the musicians bring or need sound reinforcement?
5. Is there a piano available?
